Blue Palmetto Training has assembled an experienced team with applied knowledge in training, leadership development, team building and outplacement up-skilling to build a professional leadership development company specializing in transforming client leadership teams, overhauling business cultures, and upskilling workforce talent in educational areas that address today’s issues and concerns.

The Blue Palmetto plant, native to Middle America, is known for its hardiness, self-supporting nature, and steady long-term growth. Much like the plant that is included in his company’s name, Darryl Owens and his business is built upon hardiness, a steadfast engagement in continuous education and a firm faith in the powers that direct his path to impact others and their lives.

Darryl began his journey in South Carolina where he was a product of an all-black school system. After graduation he relocated to North Texas to be with some family members. There he was influenced and encouraged by an entrepreneurial uncle who owned one of the largest African American vending machine companies in the region. The resounding message of “get an education” came through loud and clear.

At the same time he was working on his education, Darryl obtained a part-time sales position at AT&T that would chart the trajectory of his education, his personal and career growth and ultimately his entrepreneurial direction.

Darryl found he excelled at connecting with people and selling. His initial successes led him to a position of inside sales for the Yellow Pages. Shortly, he transitioned to outside sales. There, he had the opportunity to interact in person with people from all walks of life. While building those relationships, he discovered people who had received some of the basic lessons of living afforded him as a child growing up South Carolina. Even while he continued his own learning experiences, a seed was planted in these interactions that perhaps he knew things that he could share with others to help them improve their life’s circumstances.

Today, that seed has grown into his lifelong mission of helping others realize their full potential through education, training and execution on what they have learned. Darryl’s high energy enables him to easily build relationships and facilitate topics by creating a comfortable and open learning environment. Darryl has helped design instruction and deliver results with Fortune 10 companies, private financial institutions, and non-profit organizations. He has trained throughout the United States, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, The Philippines, and India.
